Traded me some Atari ST games :D

A guy named Fredrik approached me on instagram and asked if I was interested in two complete Atari ST games. I don’t really have a lot of games for the system yet (only 5 or 6) so I thought why not ^_^ We made a good deal where he got a double I had on Sega Master System, a game called Rastan, and some cash in between and he sent me this amazing package that made me really happy :D

Atari ST trade

Not only did I get an extra game, but I also got a beautiful joystick and the FirST BASIC program for the Atari ST :D I’m not really that into sports games, but this is a great way to get my fiancée to play some Atari ST with me ;D Hockey is basically the only game I can get him to play… XD

All the games were complete and in really pretty condition :) It’s gonna be interesting to try them out :D

Fredrik suggested in his letter that if I didn’t like these games I could always learn to program my own games XD I really wish I knew how to do that! Maybe I should give Basic a go ^__^

Thanks a bunch for the trade Fredrik! :D I hope you’re happy too ^_^

RSM loot part II – Pong consoles & VIC-20!

So here’s the second part of my loot from RSM (Retrospelsmässan)! As I stated in my previous post my entire haul was 6 systems and 60 games. Apart from my 2 Atari Lynx consoles I also got a Commodore Vic 20! I’ve never heard of this old computer before, at first sight I thought it was the Commodore 64, the edition that had brown keys, but after having hastily bought it someone told me later on that day that it was in fact an earlier Commodore system which did not play C64 games o_O It’s super pretty and complete with all cables and a cassette drive, I don’t have any games for it though :( :( So trying it out will have to wait…

I also found a boxed Palladium Tele-Match console. This is an old Pong clone from Germany. It was just so charming and cheap! So I couldn’t pass it up ;D Unfortunately it didn’t have a power cable so I haven’t been able to try it out yet..

I also got another boxed old pong clone, this one is called Mark Color. The system is almost completely minty inside the box, with styrofoam inlays and everything ^_^ I really like the design of this old system ^_^ I also got two games with it, it appears that the game cartridges contain several games that you can choose from on the system. Unfortunately this one lacked a power cable as well so I haven’t tried out either… (click the images to enlarge)

And of course I found yet another Pong console clone (I think I’ve gone a bit nuts about Pong machines since I lost the competition at Retro Gathering last year ;D Need some practice!). This one is called TriStar TV Game – Programmable, and I think it’s super pretty ^__^ This one also has cartridges which seem to contain several different games, but no power cord >_< so I will have to wait to try this one out too.. :(

I find these old systems really charming :) What I really would want is that orginal Pong console though, like the hockey pong from RSM but brown or black ^_^

I’ll start working on my last post about my RSM loot now! This one will cover all the various games I picked up ^__^

Computer Spiele Museum in Berlin!

This weekend I’ve been to Berlin with my friend NinjaBrite, we had a relaxing weekend with a lot of fun. One of the best things we experienced though was the Computerspielemuseum (Video Game Museum). It’s a permanent museum on Karl Marx Allee in central Berlin and it’s got a lot to offer!

They had loads of retro gaming consoles on display in pretty green boxes, all labeled with the name of the system. I photographed mainly all the ones I didn’t own, so I would remember what to look for next ;D There was only one game displayed in these green boxes, which was Atari’s E.T.! But there were lots of other games there that you could play in other areas.

They also had an arcade area with original old arcade cabinets that were free to play!! This was totally exciting for me since I’ve hardly ever gotten to play any arcade machines, except when I was in Japan. The coolest one was of course the original Pong arcade cabinet, and an old spacey green arcade cabinet with some kind of shooter. You only got the try these out on mondays though and we were there on a thursday :( but we got to play a lot of Donkey Kong, Space Invaders II, Frogger, Gauntlet, Asteroids and others ^^

There were a lot of cool things to see, read about and experience. For example they had 4 computers playing Ludo against eachother, a 5 player pong you could try out, a computer you could ask anything and another computer which was impossible to beat!

NinjaBrite tried so many times to figure out how to beat the computer in this light game

Immediately at the entrance there were life sized statues of famous characters such as Link from Zelda, Rayman, Jak & Daxter and Lara Croft ^_^

They also had a GIANT Atari Joystick! It was even working and hooked up to an Atari 2600 Junior and you could play Pacman with it ^_^ I of course had to try it out! It was difficult but worked well!

Another cool game we tried out was Rom Check Fail! This was a recently made game (don’t remember by who..) that was basically a bunch of old classic games merged together in one big glitch! Really hard but really fun to play ^^ One second you’re playing as Pacman in Mario world, the next your the Asteroids ship flying around in Hyrule haha ^_^

This was a GREAT museum! And I recommend anyone going to Berlin to go see it ^_^

Neo Geo X Gold Limited Edition!

Guess what I bought myself this weekend! :D
Neo Geo X Gold Limited Edition black

A Neo Geo X Gold, limited edition!
Neo Geo X Gold Limited Edition Box front
Neo Geo X Gold Limited Edition Box back

It’s a portable handheld new release of SNK’s Neo Geo, containing 20 classic Neo Geo games! I’ve always wanted a Neo Geo, but it’s always been really expensive, especially the good games!! But now I finally have one which I can play the games on, and it’s so shiny and pretty ^_^
Neo Geo X Gold Limited Edition System

With this package I also got a Neo Geo Station that looks like the original Neo Geo AES console!
Neo Geo X Gold Limited Edition System Case

It opens up so that you can plug in the NeoGeo handheld and then connect it to the TV (you can also connect the handheld directly to the TV) through HDMI or RCA. However the only way to charge the handheld is through this docking station.

There’s even a replica of the original controller, the arcade joystick! :D So you can get to experience the classic  way of Neo Geo gaming ^_^

The interface is really stylish :)

And in the package I also got an extra game card (apart from the 20 built in games). A game called Ninja Masters ^_^

It is possible to plug in these game cards on the side of the handheld, I’m not sure whether they intend on releasing more games for it, that would be cool though ^_^ Tonight I finished my first game on the system, I will make a review of it tomorrow probably ;D

Retro console photo shoot part II

Here’s the rest of the consoles and their accessories that got the opportunity to take a little walk with me and my camera ^_^
